One of my favorite places in The Brandywine Hundred, The Comic Book Shop on Marsh Rd is a superhero lovers dream. I remember as a child running up to my local comic store to grab the newest issue of my favorite superhero’s and spending the rest of the day engulfed in an amazing world of wonder. Going on adventure’s along side Superman, Batman and many more… Reading and exercising my imagination all at one time. It was magical, it was fun and it was exciting.
Today with the rise of superhero movies and digital comic book apps I wonder if the next generation will have this same excitement. Even though you can now read comics on your phone or device, there is still nothing quite like holding a comic. When you open it for the first time, you can smell the sweet aroma of the ink rising off the pages. You are able to experience the art first hand (as some of the art doesn’t translate well to digital devices.) Get yourself comfortable lay back and escape the world for a minute while you read through a new story. And what a great way to get your children excited about reading!

Walking into The Comic Book Shop is as exciting as it was growing up, but better. This place is much bigger. The walls are lined with the newest comics. Isle’s of bins await to be searched through to discover your next adventure. In the back corner you will find a section with just graphic novels. (mostly what I read these days.) There is even a kids corner up front for the little ones and a coloring station to keep them busy while you shop.
Sarah and Patrick Titus opened The Comic Book Shop in the late 80’s and have been at their current location for 5yrs. Their current location is much bigger than their last and is one of the bigger comic stores in the area. When you catch Sarah or Patrick at the shop you will find that their passion is infectious and it will make you very thankful that you walked in the store.
As in most of the business’s that I cover you will receive a great customer experience here. (seeing the pattern yet?) Having a great experience somewhere is something that needs to be rewarded and I am doing my best to do so.

Not only does The Comic Book Shop have comics, but they also have a ton of collectables, original toys from the 70’s, 80’s, 90,s and today. glassware and much more. Have you ever wished you could get your child that toy that you played with growing up? Have you been to The Comic Book Shop?
They also hold a few book clubs each month. (check their website for details)
Life is short, read a great comic and you should buy that comic from The Comic Book Shop. Stop by and check it out, you wont regret it!
