In my opinion the one thing missing in The Brandywine 100 was a legitimate sports bar. I mean yes there are plenty of small bars around that you can watch the games on 8-10 TV’S or so, but not a big place to get a great experience with great food and drink. Well folks, that has all just changed. As of this past Monday March 26th. The Green Turtle has officially opened on 202/Concord Pike in Restaurant Row and we are all in for quite a treat.

The Green Turtle has 49 TV’s throughout the bar with multiple booths having their own personal TV with remote. There isn’t a direction you can look and not be able to see the game that you are most interested in. They have 26 beers on tap with many more available in bottles and feature their “Shell Raiser” Draft beer. The staff was all very friendly, welcoming and quick to take your order. The Green Turtle’s menu features American Grill with burgers, wings, sandwiches and wraps. All the food you need for game day made fresh. Happy hour is from 3p-6p and 10p-close daily. Half price appetizers during happy hour. Bavarian pretzels, Nachos and Fried pickle spears just to name a few.

The Green Turtle also offers a few great deals for us locals. They have a rewards club card, free to sign up. Earn 1 point for every dollar spent and receive $5 off for every 100 points. You will also qualify for specials and discounts throughout the year. You can manage your account with the free Green Turtle app or with your club card that is given to you at the time of sign up.

There is also a Mug Club! It will cost you $40 to sign up and you get to chose your own personal mug number. That mug will hang their for you and only you to use whenever you are there. As a member you will receive $1 off every beer for life. You will also receive special Mug Club Member Discounts. Once a month on the last Thursday of the month there will be a Mug Club party. You are invited to come in and enjoy a spread of free food while you and your fellow Mug Club Members enjoy frosty beverages from your Mugs. (Beer must be paid for by you at these events.)

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

The Green Turtle has multiple programs giving back to our community. They have reserved Mug Club Mugs 1-15 that will be auctioned off 1 at a time over the next few years. All of the proceeds from these Mug sales will go to AI Dupont Children’s Hospital. (Thank you Green Turtle!) Also for the first 30 days $1 from all of their “Boardwalk Lemonade” sales will go to help fund the local youth soccer program.

If you ask me, the need for a sports bar the magnitude of The Green Turtle here in The Brandywine 100 was long over due. Head on over and grab yourself one of their popular T-Shirt’s and a beer. I look forward to seeing you there.
